If anyone is interested, here is a link to some information about the "peece neems" (place names) project for the isle of Westray, Orkney

This was a youth development project supported by the Westray Development Trust. I don't think you can access the actual database or recordings from the internet right now, but you can definitely get more information from the Westray Heritage Trust about it, as they hold all the information now.
There are quite strong differences in the orcadian dialect even within Westray (which is only a very small island), so it was important for the young folk to find people from each area to speak the place names so they could be recorded accurately.
