it was always nonsense that "Schiehallion" had anything to do with "fairy hills" - but such has been the laziness of so much thinking of recent decades.
It Actually means "the precipitous mountain of the Caledonians - and at the time it acquired the name it lay on the northern border of Caledonian territory.
